FLU VACCINATIONS

We will be holding a “Drop in Flu Vaccination Day” on Wednesday 17th October 2018 from 8am until 7pm.

If you fall in to any of the following categories, you will be eligible to receive a FREE flu vaccination:

  • Over 65

OR Under 65 with any of the following conditions:

  • Asthma (if you use a steroid inhaler)

  • Carer

  • COPD

  • Diabetes

  • Heart Disease

  • Kidney Disease

  • Low Immunity(immunosupression)

  • Splenectomy

  • Pregnant

You may also be entitle to a pneumonia vaccination.

Please ask the Doctor or Nurse who will advise further.

Changes Abbey Practice Team

The practice are delighted to welcome

Sheona Ballantyne (RGN, ENP, Independent Prescriber, ANP BSc (Hons))

She will be joining the GP team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Starting Monday 30th July 2018

Sheona is an experienced nurse who has completed a further 3 year recognised Advance Nurse Practitioner course at the University of Lancaster, graduating in 2010, enabling her to examine, diagnose, prescribe and treat many conditions in the same way a GP does.

Her role in the practice will include giving advice and clinical decision making via telephone triage and independent assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of acute illnesses and injuries.

Sheona will be working 4 days per week

ACUTE MINOR AILMENT CLINIC-THURSDAY MORNINGS

Every Thursday morning our Practice Nurse will be running a Minor Ailment Clinic from 9- 11am.

If you have any of the following symptoms and are not already seeing a Doctor about them, the Practice Nurse may be able to help:

  • Sore Throat

  • Headache

  • Urine infection

  • Cough

  • Diarrhoea/Vomiting

  • Muscle Strain

  • Earache

  • Rash

  • Sticky Eyes
